This afternoon the chancellor Rishi Sunek has announced that the stamp duty holiday for house buyers will be extended for a further 3 months until the end of June 2021. What does this mean for the Sittingbourne Propertymark market?

This afternoon the chancellor Rishi Sunek has announced that the stamp duty holiday for house buyers will be extended for a further 3 months until the end of June 2021

No stamp duty will be paid on residential properties up to the value of £500,000 before 30th June 2021

No stamp duty to be paid on residential properties up to the value of £250,000 before 30th September 2021

From October 1st 2021, stamp duty will return to properties over £125,000

The Chancellor also confirmed a new scheme to provide mortgages to homebuyers who put forward only a 5 per cent deposit, with a government guarantee.

What does this mean to the housing market?

In the last few weeks, prior to this expected budget announcement, we have seen a huge demand for property with online enquiries hitting a five year high, we expect this trend to continue well into the summer.
